BEFORE YOU RIDE

MAKE SURE YOU CAN.

VALID LICENSE

A valid driver's license from your home country.

REQUIRED IDP

International Driving Permit with Category A (large motorcycle). Without Category A on your IDP, you cannot ride — no exceptions.

YOUR PASSPORT

Bring your passport and required riding documents.

RIDE READY

Long pants recommended, sturdy boots recommended, and 18+.

Not every country's license qualifies — some need an official JAF translation alongside the IDP, and a few countries can't ride under Japanese law even with an IDP. Check the FAQ or ask us to confirm your country before booking. Can't or don't want to ride? A tandem passenger seat (¥5,000, no license needed) or an e-bike (no license needed) are both available.

FAQ

GOOD QUESTIONS.

How many people can ride?

Up to 9 riders plus up to 7 tandem passengers — 16 people total on one tour. Bike availability on any given date depends on other rental bookings, confirmed when you book.

Can I ride by myself?

Yes, solo tours are possible. The guide fee is split across riders, so a solo or small-group tour costs more per person than a larger group.

Where does the ride start?

The garage in Kamakura — fixed start and end point for pickup and drop-off. We can't provide transfers under Japanese transport law, so riders make their own way there.

Address: 1-15-2 Komachi, Kamakura, Kanagawa 248-0006 (open 10:00–18:00)

From Tokyo: JR Yokosuka Line direct from Tokyo/Shinagawa, about 60 minutes, no transfers. From Shinjuku/Shibuya, take the Shonan-Shinjuku Line.

From Kamakura Station: East Exit → toward Komachi-dori → about 4 minutes on foot. Bikes are lined up out front.

By car: Yokohama-Yokosuka Road → Asahina IC → about 15 minutes. No private lot, but coin parking is a 2-minute walk away.

Luggage: free storage at the shop while you ride. Need storage before or after? The garage is an official Bounce partner for hourly storage booked in advance.

What if a bike has a problem mid-tour?

Tours can run with or without a spare bike held back. With a spare on hand, max group size is 5 riders; without one, up to 9. The support vehicle carries equipment and spare bikes only — it cannot carry riders.

What happens if it rains?

In severe weather, we may cancel at our discretion, with a full refund. No night riding for now — day tours only.

Can I keep the bike after the tour?

Yes — extensions are ¥1,250 per 15 minutes. If you already know you'll want more time, booking the longer tour upfront is more reliable and costs about the same per hour.

Which countries' licenses work?

Countries that are 1949 Geneva Convention signatories (US, Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, and others) can ride with a standard IDP. Some countries (Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Monaco, Estonia, Taiwan) need an official JAF translation alongside their license instead. Some countries (including Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Brazil) cannot ride under Japanese law, even holding an IDP. Japan does not issue IDPs to visitors — it must be arranged in your home country before you arrive. Ask us to confirm your specific country before booking.

How do I get an International Driving Permit before I arrive?

Your IDP needs to be arranged through your own country's official motoring authority before you leave home. Requirements and processes vary by country, so check with your own country's authority ahead of your trip. Ask us if you're unsure which authority is legitimate for your country.
